About 98.3 The Rock
Meet Lisa, Your On-Air Host!
Lisa (Walls) Jordan is the baby of six.
“The first song I ever remember hearing on the radio was: Up, Up and Away in My Beautiful Balloon by the 5th Dimension. I was four. I thought the harmonies were amazing and what kid doesn’t like balloons? I gradually learned to sing harmony listening to my mother as she sang along with the Grand Ole Opry.”
As a singer and teenager, Lisa continued to keep a radio nearby. Enamored by the medium, she even dated a radio announcer and her journalism projects always seem to involve live interviews with local radio personalities. She was influenced by Paul Harvey, Casey Kasem, and local announcers she heard on a 50,000 watt FM radio station on the Ohio River.
Lisa’s first radio job resulted from that same FM station. They advertised they were hosting a live, open-mic singing competition. Unknown to anyone, Lisa entered and won in her category. The prize was 100 records and studio time, in a professional recording studio.
Many recording sessions have followed. She has also sang back-up or produced studio demos for others as well.
Lisa married her husband Wayne in 1987, and was working part-time in an attorneys office. Because of that prior contest experience, she was hired as a drive-time announcer at a powerful, clear-channel 1,000 watt AM station.
Since then, she has maintained a full career in radio and the music industry over 30 years in the eastern half of the US, and has been a guest soloist and/or speaker at many events and conferences.
Her work has included: voicing, imaging and programming on national networks, videos, concerts, hosting bus tours, television, and owning and operating her own home recording studio.
“I love my audience and the rapport we have. I have seen radio bring communities together. I am so blessed that I get to make a living at a job that I am passionate about everyday.”
